What to look for when purchasing a Dive Watch |

It all depends on the type of diver that you are. Diving watches will differ in how deep they can go. You can find them from a 50 meters water resistance to over 600 hundred meters. Do you deep sea dive or scuba dive in more shallow waters? The depth of your dives determines the depth in meters you should look for in a dive watch. For instance, if you are diving in shallow water (8 ft or so) then a 100 meter watch will suffice. The deeper you go, the higher the depth in meters you should look for.
Divers watches have a screw down crown, which gives it more of a water
tight seal. They also can withstand enormous tons of pressure as you go
deeper. Diving watches usually have a rubber type band to avoid
corrosion but are sold in stainless steel as well. Other features
that are typical of dive watches are unidirectional timing bezels, bracelet extensions, and they almost always have an easy to read
uncluttered face. The face is especially important so that you can see
how long you have been down. The faces are usually yellow or orange so
they can be seen better under water.
A diving watch that I would highly recommend is the Seiko Monster. This watch features a scratch resistant curved Hardlex crystal, stainless steel band, screw down crown, screw down case back, 21 jewel automatic movement, day and date calender and 660 feet water resistance. The markers are also luminescent and are some of the brightest that you will find. The watch is thick and heavy and very well made. The best part about this watch is you can usually find one for about $150 and in my opinion, there is not a better watch made in this price range. Seiko never sold this watch in the USA and usually the only place you can find them is online. I bought mine on eBay around 3 years ago and still wear it daily.
